The Dornier Wines estate is located at the foot of the Stellenbosch Mountains in the Stellenbosch growing region in South Africa . Mainly Cabernet Sauvignon -based red wines and Chenin-Blanc -based white wines are produced .

history

The winery is named after the German artist Christoph Dornier , the youngest son of the aircraft designer Claude Dornier . In 1995 Dornier bought the winery, the first of five farms, which today cover almost 180 hectares. The former fruit and cattle farms were converted to viticulture in the following years. Dornier was one of the first international investors to enter South African viticulture after the end of apartheid .

The wine cellar designed by Dornier was opened in 2003. Dornier Wines has been a member of the Biodiversity and Wine Initiative since 2006 and thus contributes to the sustainable management of the agricultural land. The company's founder died in August 2008 at the age of 69 in Lucerne , Switzerland. The continued existence of the winery was secured by a foundation.

The wines

The wines are produced in three qualitatively and stylistically different lines. They are mainly exported to Europe, North America and Asia.
