Dortmund Museum Night
The Dortmund Museum Night ( Dortmunder DEW21 - Museum Night ) is an annual cultural event at which more than 50 institutions - museums , galleries , church buildings and other cultural institutions - open their doors. The Museum Night consists of more than 500 individual events, such as concerts, comedy shows, theater performances, hands-on activities and guided tours through museums. As a rule, tens of thousands of visitors come at the end of September (2011 in October 2011) and take part in the Museum Night.

The Dortmund Museum Night has been taking place once a year since 2001. While there were around 30 museums, galleries, churches and other cultural institutions in 2001, the group of organizers has now grown to around 60 houses. Around 30,000 to 50,000 people visit this event every year.
A special feature of the Dortmund Museum Night is the large children's program that was there from the start. Therefore, the Dortmund "night" starts at 4 pm. In general, the program in Dortmund, compared to other museum nights, focuses on events in addition to tours and exhibitions. In 2010, for example, the cabaret artist Fatih Çevikkollu and the group Luxuslärm were part of the program.
Traditionally, an open-air event takes place late in the evening on Friedensplatz as part of the Museum Night. Various street theaters or fireworks were shown here in the past.
The organizer is the city of Dortmund, the project management lies with the Dortmund agency konzeptschmiede-do.
