Dossans

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dossanen (also Doxani , Dasseri and Desseri ) were an Elbe Slavic tribe of the 10th century in the northern area of the later Mark Brandenburg . Their settlement area was probably on both sides of the Dosse east of the settlement area of the Zamzizi . Apart from the name, there is no news of the situation. The Dossanen were first mentioned in 946/948 as Doxani in the founding deed of the diocese of Havelberg as part of its territory. Since 983/991 they probably belonged to the Liutizenbund , which tried to defend Slavic independence in the area east of the Elbe .
