Double Loop in Geauga Lake & Wildwater Kingdom ( Aurora , Ohio , USA ) was a roller coaster on the model Custom Looping Coaster manufacturer's Arrow Dynamics , which opened the 1977th It was the first roller coaster to be equipped with two consecutive loops .

history

When Double Loop opened in 1977, the entire structure was white and had a red and a yellow train. In the 1980s, the entire structure was painted black. Over the years, the trains were exchanged for the old trains of the already closed Corkscrew roller coaster in the same park, also designed by Arrow .

In 2000, the runway was repainted as part of Six Flags' planned overhaul following its purchase from Geauga Lake & Wildwater Kingdom. The rails turned yellow, like the Dominator, and the supports turned purple. The yellow train was given a slightly darker shade of yellow and the red train turned purple.

In 2007, Geauga Lake announced on its website that the park would only open as a water park in 2008 and that all attractions would be closed. The track was then sold at auction to a local scrap dealer at a price of $ 23,000  .

layout

After the train left the station, it made a 180 ° turn into a tunnel. The train was pulled up the lift hill and drove down the first descent on a gradient of 45 °. Now he went up an incline, at the apex of which he made a curve before he made the two consecutive loops. There was another ascent followed by a 360 ° downward helix before the train reached the station.

Trains

Double Loop had two trains with six cars each. Four people (two rows of two people) could sit in each car. Shoulder straps were used as a restraint system.
