Douglas Chapman (born January 5, 1955 ) is a Scottish politician of the Scottish National Party (SNP).

Life

Chapman has lived in Dunfermline with his wife for a long time . He is a father of two. He worked for the Trustee Savings Bank for a long time , most recently in personnel management.

Political career

In the 2015 British general election , Chapman ran for the SNP in his home constituency of Dunfermline and West Fife . Among other things, he competed against Labor MP Thomas Docherty , who has represented the constituency in the British House of Commons since 2010 . After the SNP gained massive votes in these elections, Chapman achieved the highest percentage of votes with 50.3% and subsequently moved into the House of Commons for the first time. There he is a member of the Defense Committee. In the early general election in 2017 , Chapman maintained his mandate just ahead of Labor candidate Cara Hilton, despite losing votes .
