Cara Hilton

Cara Hilton (* 1975 in Grangemouth ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish Labor Party .

Life

Hilton was born the daughter of the politician Cathy Peattie , who represented the constituency of Falkirk East in the Scottish Parliament for three terms . She attended Grangemouth High School and then studied political science at the University of Strathclyde , which she graduated with a bachelor's degree . She moved to Leicester University , where she earned a master's degree in European labor law. She also received a degree in Education from the Open University . First Hilton worked in Leeds for the National Health Service and then moved to the education planning department of the City of York . Then Hilton worked for the USDAW union . In 2007, Hilton returned to Scotland and was first assistant to Labor MP Karen Whitefield , later to the House of Commons Thomas Docherty . Hilton has three children.

Political career

Hilton joined the Labor Party at the age of 15. After working for MPs for the Labor Party, she ran for the 2012 regional council elections and has been a member of the Fife Regional Council for Dunfermline since May 2012 . After the resignation of SNP MP Bill Walker , by-elections were required in his constituency of Dunfermline . The Labor Party put Hilton against the SNP candidate Shirley-Anne Somerville . Hilton succeeded in gaining a majority of the votes, whereupon they moved into the Scottish Parliament for the first time.
