Bill Walker (born March 31, 1942 in Edinburgh ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party (SNP).

Life

Baker grew up in Edinburgh and attended Royal High School . He then studied electrical engineering at the University of Edinburgh and graduated with a bachelor's degree . He then went to the Illinois Institute of Technology and studied computer science. Eventually Walker returned to Edinburgh University and graduated from Management School with a Masters degree .

Political career

Walker has served on the Fife area council since 2007 . In the Scottish general elections in 2011 , Walker ran for the newly created constituency of Dunfermline as part of the constituency reform . He narrowly prevailed against the Labor Party candidate and entered the Scottish Parliament for the first time . In March 2012, Walker was initially temporarily excluded from the SNP after it became known that he had been violent towards his first three wives and that his fourth wife allegedly suffered further domestic violence. Walker did not comment on the allegations. His mandate remains unaffected by the exclusion. In April 2012, Walker was expelled from the party and initially belonged to parliament as a non-party. After more than half of the MPs supported Walker's resignation, the latter gave in to pressure on September 7, 2013 and resigned from the Scottish Parliament. This made by-elections necessary in the constituency of Dunfermline, which Labor candidate Cara Hilton won.
