Doctor Web, Ltd. ( Russian Доктор Веб ) is a provider of self-developed IT security solutions and managed security services for IT providers. The Dr.Web anti-virus software has been developed by the company's founder Igor Danilov (* 1964) since 1992.
The company was founded in 2003 and is headquartered in Moscow . Its development department as well as the in-house anti-virus laboratory are located in St. Petersburg . In addition to subsidiaries in France , Ukraine , Kazakhstan , Japan and China , the company is also represented in Germany by Doctor Web Deutschland GmbH based in Baden-Baden .
Dr.Web antivirus software
Dr.Web antivirus software is available on various system platforms and is therefore suitable for solutions in heterogeneous IT landscapes.
The product range is mainly divided into categories for private and business customers:
- Doctor Web offers anti-virus software for workstations and mobile devices for private customers.
- For business customers, the product range includes antivirus software for
- Workstations and mobile devices,
- File and terminal servers as well as
- E-mail and proxy servers that can be deployed and controlled via a web-based administration center.
Since 2009, Doctor Web has opened up another business area with the Dr.Web AV-Desk Managed Security Service: IT providers can use it to provide their customers with Dr.Web anti-virus software in the SaaS model on the basis of subscriptions. Dr.Web AV-Desk clients are currently installed on around 1.3 million computers worldwide (as of March 10, 2014).
For acute rescue measures Doctor Web also offers tools with which viruses can be found and eliminated on individual computers or in entire networks. Other utilities (e.g. for decrypting files that have been encrypted by Trojans) can be downloaded free of charge from the website.
