Dr. Kimble

Dr. Richard Kimble is a fictional character in the American television series On the Run (originally: The Fugitive), which was played by David Janssen . It is based on a real-life criminal case in which the medical doctor Sam Sheppard, who has been convicted of murder, is released from prison. In the series, Kimble is a small town pediatrician who was innocently convicted of the murder of his wife but seized the opportunity to escape in a train wreck en route to his execution. The central storyline of the series is his search for the one-armed Fred Johnson ( Bill Raisch ), the actual murderer, while he himself is led by the unyielding police officer Lt. Philip Gerard ( Barry Morse ) is hunted. In the final, Dr. Kimble to confront Johnson at an amusement park and bring him to a confession. After that, Johnson is shot by Gerard. The court overturned his sentence after Kimble's neighbor testified for him as another witness.

Kimble is also the main character in the 1993- based film On the Escape , in which Harrison Ford (Kimble) and Tommy Lee Jones (Chief Deputy Marshal Samuel Gerard) are played. In this film adaptation, Kimble is a prominent Chicago surgeon.

Between 2000 and 2001 Auf der Flucht was picked up for a third time for a new version of the series adapted to the time; Kimble has now been portrayed by Timothy Daly . The story was varied again: The father of those killed, Kimble's father-in-law, hires bounty hunters to hunt down Kimble. Kimble is therefore not alone in fleeing the police.
