Drazark

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Drazark ( Armenian Դրազարկ վանք , Latin Tres Arces ; old-French Trois-Arcs ) was an important Armenian monastery north of Sis in Cilicia (former Kingdom of Lesser Armenia ) with its own monastic-liturgical order (lost), based on Gēorg Mełrik (1044 –1115) and apparently imitated the Akoimetes .

The exact location and current state of preservation of the facility are unknown. The main church, which was expanded under Thoros I , was dedicated to the Mother of God, and the monastery was populated by 150 monks at the beginning of the 13th century. Important manuscripts were created in his scriptorium, including the early Lectionary Arch. Cap. S. Pietro B 77 (a. 1221) of the Vaticana . Under Catholicos Yovhannes VII. (1203-1220 / 21) Drazark became the seat of the Catholicos of the Armenians instead of Hromkla .
