The DreamHack Leipzig is the German platform of the Swedish Dreamhack , the world's largest digital festival. It was first held at the Leipziger Messe in 2016 and has taken place annually since then.

General information

Among the hallmarks of the event include professional e-sports tournaments, a LAN party with four-digit number of participants and exhibition area Dream Expo. Until 2018, access to DreamHack Leipzig was possible from the age of 16 for the esports and exhibition area and from the age of 18 for the LAN. From 2019, parts of the e-sports and exhibition area will be accessible from 12 years of age. DreamHack Leipzig is being organized by Leipziger Messe and Schenker Technologies / XMG as co-organizers.

E-sports tournaments

As part of the DreamHack Leipzig find professional e-sports - tournaments held, including the tournament series DreamHack Open. Previous tournament games included Counter-Strike: Global Offensive , StarCraft II and Hearthstone . In 2017 the TenTactic Tournament was held once , in which two teams competed against each other in ten different games.

LAN party 

Germany's largest LAN party takes place at DreamHack Leipzig . In 2016, 1000 participants played with and against each other for 56 hours. In the following year the LAN area was expanded. It now had its own hall and 1500 seats.

DreamExpo and DreamStore 

At the booths of the DreamExpo exhibition area, companies and developers from the gaming industry display their hardware, equipment and games for viewing and testing. Independent developers, start-ups and universities can present themselves in the IndieVille exhibition area . In the adjoining DreamStore, software and hardware as well as games and merchandising items can be purchased.

Cosplay contest

A major cosplay competition takes place every year at DreamHack Leipzig, where prizes are awarded in various categories. The jury itself consists of cosplayers. It selects the participants from all applications and finally chooses the winners for the event. In 2016, 25 cosplayers took part, in 2017 the number increased to 30.

StreamArea 

In the StreamArea, prominent streamers mostly from Germany sit and stream live from DreamHack Leipzig. In addition to the 18 fixed slots for well-known streamers, there are two wildcard slots on which a total of six young streamers take turns over the course of the festival. Streamers can apply for these wildcards in the run-up to DreamHack Leipzig. In a meet & greet area, festival visitors can get to know the streamers personally.

Pokémon 

The Pokémon Regional Championships, which are the biggest Pokémon tournament events after the International Championships, have been taking place at DreamHack since 2017 . The trading card game and the video games Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon were played in 2017 . The tournaments were held in a separate area, to which under 16-year-olds have access.
