The listed building at Dresdner Straße 35 is a residential building in the small town of Ruhland in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district in southern Brandenburg . It was built in 1672 and is the oldest house in Ruhland. It is recorded in the local monument register under registration number 09120164 .

Building description and history

The two-story Umgebinde- / half-timbered house is on the Dresden Road 35. It is about 7 meters wide, 11 meters long and is traufständig the street. The windowless kitchen, which was probably used to smoke fish and meat and to heat the house, is a special architectural feature. Due to its location outside the city center, the house survived the last great city fire of 1768 unscathed. It also remained intact during the two world wars. The house has been uninhabited since the mid-1970s. From 2013 to 2017 it was extensively restored by Hans-Joachim Ruhland, so that work for the 700th anniversary of the city of Ruhland was completed in May 2017.
