Drill 'n' bass
Drill 'n' Bass (short for Drill and Bass ) is a name for a genre of music that represents a special variety of electronic music whose origins lie in drum and bass . Musicians like Aphex Twin , Squarepusher , Luke Vibert and µ-ziq created this sound in the mid-1990s.
The genre is characterized by complex rhythm structures and nested drum programming. It differs from drum and bass in precisely this greater complexity.
Since most producers of Drill'n'Bass also produce or have produced Intelligent Dance Music (IDM), Drill 'n' Bass is also considered a sub-genre of IDM . The transitions between these two musical styles are rather fluid.
Nowadays (2006) only a few musicians produce, such as B. The Flashbulb or Wisp , Drill 'n' Bass. Other musicians like Venetian Snares or Xanopticon, whose music was inspired by Drill 'n' Bass, refer to their further development of the genre as breakcore .
