Dsaisan memorial

The Dsaisan memorial ( Mongolian Зайсан ) is located in the south of the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar and is intended to commemorate the Soviet soldiers who died in World War II .

The memorial , built by Russians, is located on a hill. In a rotunda, various murals depict scenes of friendship between the peoples of the USSR and Mongolia, for example the Soviet support for the independence of Mongolia in 1921, the defeat of the Japanese Kwantung Army on the Chalcha River on the Mongolian border in 1939, the victory over Nazi Germany and peacetime achievements like Russian space travel.

After reaching the top parking lot, visitors have to climb three hundred steps before they can reach the monument. The reward is a panoramic view of Ulaanbaatar such as the Tuul River .

In 2003, a tank that had previously stood at an intersection between Dsaisan and the center of the city was moved to the foot of the hill. It is a Soviet tank donated to a Russian brigade by the Mongolian people. There is also a map showing the brigade's route from Moscow to the fall of Berlin in 1945.

Dsaisan is a popular meeting place for school trips and graduation parties.
