The Jabal Turkmen ( Arabic جبل تركمان, DMG Ǧabal Turkumān ; Turkish Türkmen Dağı ) is a mountain range in Syria and belongs to the Jebel Ansariye mountain range . The mountains are named after the Turkmen who live here and are located near the Turkish border in the Latakia governorate .
A Russian Su-24 was shot down by the Turkish Air Force in this area on November 24, 2015 .
