Jamal ad-Din Abd al-Karim ad-Dabban

Jamal ad-Din Abd al-Karim ad-Dabban ( Arabic جمال الدين عبد الكريم الدبان, DMG Ǧamāl ad-Dīn ʿAbdu 'l-Karīm ad-Dabbān ; * around 1939; † June 17, 2007 ) was a Sunni clergyman.

Jamal al-Din Abd al-Karim al-Dabban was the head of the Sunni religious community in Iraq from July 2004 until his death . He was considered a moderate Muslim .

On June 24, 2006, he and his two sons were arrested by US occupation soldiers as a possible terrorist, but were briefly released after protests by the Iraqi population in Tikrit .

Ad-Dabban died of complications from a heart attack .
