The Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (DCAA) is a state authority in the United Arab Emirates that looks after both the preservation of cultural assets and the establishment of an active and modern art and culture scene in Dubai .

history

The DCAA was founded in 2008 by Sheikh Muhammad bin Raschid Al Maktum with the aim of stimulating the art and culture scene in Dubai and making it a center in the region. The Dubai Cultural Council, founded in 2004, was incorporated into the DCAA. After the financial crash in 2008, the dimensions of some projects had to be reduced, but the DCAA is still involved in a large number of projects and is of immense importance for the art and cultural landscape in Dubai .

Sheikh Madschid bin Muhammad bin Raschid Al Maktum is the director of the DCAA , his deputy is Mohammed Al Murr , the former head of the Dubai Cultural Council . Saeed Mohamed Al Nabouda is chief project manager and executive director general since 2010. Dr. Salah Al Qassim serves as an advisor.

strategy

In order to achieve its goal of establishing Dubai as a hotspot for art and culture, the DCAA offers artists a wide variety of events, projects and opportunities for further education that help them to achieve a higher level of awareness, but also improve the city's cultural image. A certain awareness of tradition is emphasized, but an attempt is also made to combine these Arab influences with modern art. In addition, one wants to give the public easier access to art and culture. In this way, more attention is to be directed to the cultural events and an awareness of it to be anchored in the broad masses.
