Dexter lymphatic duct

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The dexter lymphatic duct ( lat. "Right lymph duct") is a short, larger lymph vessel (lymph collecting trunk) in the neck and part of the lymphatic system .

It arises from the union of the lymph vessels of the right arm and that of the right side of the head and neck ( Truncus trachealis dexter ) and opens into the right vein angle . It ensures that the lymph in the corresponding body sections is transferred back into the blood . Occasionally the union of the axillary lymph vessels with the truncus trachealis fails, in which case the enlarged end piece of the truncus trachealis is called the ductus lymphaticus dexter.
