Duisburg (formerly known as Duysbourg) is a town in the Belgian municipality of Tervuren within the Flanders region .

history

Duisburg was under independent rule from the Middle Ages until it was assigned to Tervuren in 1977. It is controversial among historians whether the old Dispargum , from where the Frankish petty king Chlodio set out to carry out conquests in Belgium and northern France, is the Belgian or German Duisburg .

Demographics

In 2011 Duisburg had 3,204 inhabitants, 86% of whom were Belgians and 14% foreigners. The town has a large French-speaking minority due to its proximity to Brussels.
