Lake Duluti is a crater lake of volcanic origin on the Arusha - Moshi road , near the Arusha National Park in Tanzania .

location

It is located in the south of the national park and is filled with water all year round. The depth is given as about 9 m. The lake is the habitat of around 130 different bird species. The reed island in the west of the lake in particular serves as a breeding ground. The small forest around the lake is protected as Lake Duluti Forest Reserve and registration at the office on the north-eastern shore is required for a tour.

use

Various tourist tour operators offer canoe trips on the lake and especially the northern shore with its small lawns is also a local recreation area for the population of Arusha.

The city of Arusha plans to use the lake to supply the city with water.

On the southern side of the lake there are caves that are regularly used by groups of pilgrims for prayers and ceremonies.
