Dumpokjauratj (residential area)

Dumpokjauratj in Arjeplog is a middle Stone Age living space ( Swedish Dumpokjauratj-boplatsen ) of Komsa- or Finn culture lake Dumpokjauratj in Lapland in Sweden . In the Stone Age, Dumpokjauratj was the bay of a large lake, which was later divided into four lakes by the postglacial land elevation .

Dumpokjauratj was the oldest site in northern Sweden and was excavated in the 1990s by a team from Umeå University . The living space is dated to 7800 BC. And contains over 3500 finds, including chert and slate tools , red ocher and bones, from reindeer that were not domesticated at the time . Later, the even older Kangos living space was discovered.
