Dun Carloway ( Scottish Gaelic : Dùn Charlabhaigh ) is a Broch in the district of Carloway on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis in Scotland .

It's a remarkably well-preserved brochure - on the east side, parts of the wall still reach a height of nine meters. In some places there are also more modern repairs on the east wall. Dun Carloway was probably built in the 1st century BC; a radiocarbon dating of Brochs obtained proved that it was occupied 1300 n.. Chr. The base of the broch is 14 to 15 meters in diameter and the walls are three meters thick. It has a circular floor plan and hollow walls and was built without mortar. The broch likely had wooden floors, interior walls, and a thatched roof necessary to make it habitable, but the only remaining evidence of this is holes. Together with the roof, the narrow passage was presumably secured by a wooden door; they were the most vulnerable parts of the building, especially from fire.

Dun Carloway was state owned until 1887 and is now in the hands of Historic Scotland.
