Dun Ringill ( German  "Fort an der Schlucht" ) is an Iron Age facility near Kirkibost on the Isle of Skye in the Highland Council Area in Scotland . The tradition connects it to the residence of the Chief of the MacKinnon - Clans , the fourth Chief Findanus to 900 AD in the nearby.. Moll Castle (also Dun Acainn or Dunakin called) moved.

From Dun Ringill only parts of the foundation walls with the entrance have been preserved. The somewhat irregular shape, which adapts to the coastline, makes it almost a broch or semi-broch and shows the problems that the jargon has with such small paved places. Access has a guard cell ( English guard-cell ) and the post holes for a door lock. In the wall there is a by corbels vaulted cell. In the late Middle Ages , the complex was expanded into a Promontory Fort . A trench was dug over the promontory, the original passage was lengthened and two rectangular buildings were built within the wall.

A song by the rock band Jethro Tull is called Dun Ringill . It was released on the album Stormwatch in 1979 .
