The Duncan Mountains are a group of rugged hills on the Amundsen coast of the Antarctic Ross Dependency . They extend along the southern edge of the Ross Ice Shelf for 29 km from the mouth of Liv Glacier to the mouth of Strøm Glacier .
Participants of the American Byrd Antarctic Expedition (1928–1930) discovered this formation in November 1929. Expedition leader Richard Evelyn Byrd named them after James Duncan, manager of the transport company Tapley Ltd. based in Dunedin , New Zealand , which worked for Byrd's research trip .
