description

The Dunglass Viaduct opened in 1846. The railway viaduct runs the electrified East Coast Main Line over Dunglass Burn . There are three more bridges over the river right next to it. Located furthest downstream, the A1 crosses it right next to the now unused predecessor structure of this bridge. Further up the river crosses a small side road.

The masonry viaduct is about one kilometer north of Cockburnspath. It spans the Dunglass Burn valley with six segment arches . These are divided into two or three smaller arches with a span of 9.1 m on both sides and a wide arch with a span of 41.1 m over the river. The masonry consists of sandstone and is partially embossed .
