Manure path

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There is often a manure path in terraced houses . Since the row houses are built next to each other, the garden of a middle row house can only be reached from the front through the house. For this reason, a kind of farm path is created behind all terraced houses , which all parties can practice to reach their property from the garden side.

The term comes from the time when row house gardens were still mainly used for farming and small animal breeding for self-sufficiency. The manure and other rubbish could be removed via the manure path without having to go through the living room. A manure path is about three feet wide, so it's easy to get through with a wheelbarrow.
