Dunja Bialas

Dunja Bialas is a German journalist who specializes in film criticism.

Bialas studied Romance studies and comparative literature in Munich and Paris . She is the editor-in-chief and chairwoman of the online film magazine Artechock . From 2002 to 2013 she worked on the film selection committee of the International Documentary Film Festival Munich and curated the international competition from 2010 to 2013. In 2006 she founded the UNDERDOX - Document and Experiment film festival together with cinema operator Bernd Brehmer ( Werkstattkino Munich) . Since May 2013 she has been a board member and spokeswoman for the Association of German Film Critics (VdFk). She is one of the authors of the “Flyer for Activist Film Criticism” launched in Oberhausen in May 2014 and is co-founder of the Week of Criticism . She has been working as an organizer and program advisor for the Munich Film Art Weeks since 2014 . In February 2019 she also became a founding member of the main association Cinephilia.

Dunja Bialas lives and works in Munich.
