UNDERDOX

The International Film Festival for Document and Experiment Munich ( UNDERDOX for short ) has been held annually in Munich since 2006 . It was founded by the film critic Dunja Bialas and the cinema operator Bernd Brehmer ( workshop cinema ), who also act as festival directors. The festival is funded by the Culture Department of the City of Munich and the Filmstadt München eV association. It is a member of the Association of Bavarian Film Festivals.

The festival focuses on experimental forms of documentary film . Since 2006, a film by Filipino filmmaker Lav Diaz has been shown every year . The biennial competition VIDEODOX for German video art has existed since 2014 with prize money of 1000 euros.

The festival venues are the Munich Film Museum , the Werkstattkino and Theatiner film art. In 2020, a selection of films that had previously been shown on UNDERDOX were presented at the Paris Goethe-Institut .
