Dunmore Pineapple (German: Dunmore Pineapple ) is a building in Dunmore Park near the Scottish town of Airth in the Council Area Falkirk . In 1972 the structure was included in the Scottish List of Monuments in the highest category A. It was also classified as a Scheduled Monument until 1999 .

description

The Dunmore Pineapple Summer Home is located southeast of Dunmore Park. It was built in 1761 at the behest of John Murray, 4th Earl of Dunmore . The result was a two-story, elongated building with a Harl- plastered facade. On the north facade, facing the gardens, a classicist loggia juts out in the center. On the upper floor, windows are arranged on both sides on three vertical axes. Above it sits a pineapple-shaped dome that Murray had added around 1771. The period marks his return from North America, where he served as governor of the Virginia colony . The addition should symbolize and underscore his return to Dunmore. Gothic windows run around the base of the dome .

In the 1970s, the building was described as shabby. It was given to the authorities and restored. Today, Dunmore Pineapple has holiday apartments.
