Duppi-Teššup

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Duppi-Teššup (also Tuppi-Teššup) was an Amarna period king of Amurru , who so far only came from Hittite sources from the turn of the 14th to the 13th century BC. Is known. He was a son of Ari-Teššup , the successor of Aziru . A contract originally concluded between Aziru and Šuppiluliuma I was renewed by Duppi-Teššup under Muršili II ( CTH 62 ). This treaty obliged Amurru to provide assistance to the Hittite royal family and to pay tribute to Ḫatti , while further tribute payments to Egypt were prohibited. Duppi-Teššup's sister Aḫat-milki was the wife of King Niqmepa of Ugarit .
