Dur Šarrukin (also Dur Scharrukin, Dur Šarruken, Dur Scharruken ; wall / land fortress of Sargon ; Sumerian : A.NUN.AN.A.RU.RU.KI) was a place in the Akkad region , near Opis . Archaeological evidence of Dur Šarrukin from ancient times is missing to this day, although it is believed that Sargon of Akkad founded the site.

It was not until the post-Kassite period that Dur Sarrukin was found in inscriptions and steles, for example on two kudurrus by Nebuchadnezzar I and in an inscription by Nabonid , who also referred to Dur Sarrukin as Dur Sarruku.
