Extension (telephone system)

The telephone connections of the individual employees or the telephones in the individual rooms are referred to as extensions in telephone systems of companies, offices, etc. Under Mobile Extension is defined as the integration of mobile phones into a telecommunications system as full extension.

Extensions are means of extension - telephone number to reach, or be of the attendant conveyed. Subscribers to extensions have an extension number, and an extension number for external extensions.

In Austria, an extension or extension is also called a flap.

In contrast, a secondary connection is a second telephone connection coupled to a telephone connection without its own telephone number.
