Durofol is a synthetic resin press wood or press laminated wood with visible grain . The veneer layers are not only glued, but completely impregnated with phenolic resin and pressed under pressure and high temperature . The term is a registered trademark and comes from the only manufacturer of this material, Durofol KG, J. Brangs & Co. from Solingen , which later became Durofol Presswerk GmbH .

In the 1950s and 1960s, seating in many public transport systems was made of Durofol. Later they were mostly replaced by upholstered seats.

Pistol grips were another area of application. Today you can still find Durofol in the handles of cutlery .
