Dursun Özbek
Dursun Aydın Özbek (born March 25, 1949 in Şebinkarahisar , Giresun Province ) is a Turkish businessman. From May 2015 to January 2018 he was the 36th President of the Turkish first division soccer club Galatasaray Istanbul .
Life
Özbek went to the Galatasaray high school and later studied mechanical engineering at İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi . He has been working in the automotive sector since 1974. Since 1988 he has also managed the Nippon Hotel and the Point Hotel in Ankara and Istanbul. Dursun Özbek is married to Mesude Özbek, the couple have two children.
Galatasaray Istanbul
In 2011, Dursun Özbek was supposed to be on the board of Galatasaray under President Ünal Aysal , but he canceled. With Duyung Yarsuvat as the new club president, Özbek became vice president in 2014.
On May 24, 2015, he won the election for President of Galatasaray Istanbul with 2,800 votes and became the club's 36th President. In December 2017, Özbek decided on an early election. On January 20, 2018 he lost it to Mustafa Cengiz . Özbek received 1,623 votes, his opponent Cengiz 1,703.
Four months later, Özbek ran again and lost again to Mustafa Cengiz. Özbek got 1,361 votes, his opponent Mustafa Cengiz 2,525.
