Duva boxing

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Duva Boxing is an American boxing promotion company based in Totowa , New Jersey that promotes, among other things, the former WBC heavyweight title holder Samuel Peter .

Dino Duva and the company as promoters

Dino Duva (born August 28, 1958 in Paterson, New Jersey) started his own company four years after the death of his brother Dan Duva in 1996, the boss of Main Events , and a falling out with his sister-in-law Kathy Duva in 2000. Apart from the aging legend Pernell Whitaker and the young Olympian Sam Peter, he had practically no stars under contract until the end of his career. As Thomas Hauser explained on "Seconds Out", at least back then he suffered from a severe cocaine addiction . The only other world class boxers from Duva (as of 2007) besides Peter are cruiser Darnell Wilson and light welterweight Kenall Holt (Top10 in Ring Magazine ). In late 2006, Don King bought 50% of Duva Boxing.

Coach Lou Duva

"Lou" Duva (born May 28, 1922) is the legendary head of the family of the Italian-American clan. Lou, who has always worked as a trainer and trained for main events Evander Holyfield , Meldrick Taylor (for example in his famous first fight with JCChávez) and Pernell Whitaker , does not normally interfere in promotions.
