Paul Keck

Paul Keck (born November 24, 1905 in Halle - Trotha ; † November 15, 1963 in Berlin ) was a German trade unionist ( FDGB ) and briefly deputy chairman of the Central Committee of People's Solidarity .

Life

Keck came from a working-class family. After attending primary school , he did an apprenticeship as a locksmith and later worked in this profession.

In 1920 Keck became a member of the SAJ . In 1926 he joined the KPD. After the National Socialists “ seized power ” in 1933, he took part in the resistance , was arrested and sentenced to one year in prison for “preparing for high treason ”.

In 1945 Keck became a member of the FDGB, in 1946 a member of the SED. For a short time he was chairman of the state board of Saxony-Anhalt of the administration, banking and insurance union (VBV). From 1953 to 1955 he was chairman of the FDGB district board in Halle and a member of the SED district leadership there, including at times its office. From 1955 he was an employee of the trade unions department in the Central Committee of the SED.

1962/63 he acted as deputy chairman of the Central Committee of People's Solidarity.

Keck died after a short, serious illness shortly before the age of 58.
