Siegfried Michl

Siegfried Michl (born July 25, 1923 in Chemnitz , † November 23, 1954 in Berlin ) was a German trade unionist ( FDGB ). In 1954 he was a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR .

Life

Michl, son of a working-class family, attended elementary and trade school and later worked as a clerk . He was drafted into the Wehrmacht and was taken prisoner by the Soviets . After 1945 he first worked as a Reichsbahn helper .

In 1945 he joined the KPD and the FDGB, in 1946 he became a member of the SED . Michl became FDGB youth secretary in Chemnitz. In 1947 he was a member of the FDGB state board of Saxony , from 1947 to 1954 a member of the FDGB federal board and from 1952 to 1954 also a member of its executive committee. From January to August 1952 he was chairman of the FDGB state board of Saxony-Anhalt , then - after the dissolution of the states - of the Halle district board . From 1952 to 1954 he was chairman of the central board of the trade union.

On October 17, 1954 Michl was elected member of the People's Chamber of the GDR for the FDGB . Michl was also a member of the SED district leadership in Halle and at times also a candidate or member of the office of the SED district leadership in Halle.

Michl died unexpectedly on November 23, 1954 at the age of only 31.

Honors

The FDGB district school in Grünheide and an FDGB holiday home in Bad Klosterlausnitz bore his name.
