Dytiko in front of the "lion" |
Dytiko ( Greek Δυτικό ( n. Sg. ), Occasionally also Dytikos Lendas , Δυτικός Λέντας ( m. Sg. )) Or Diskos (Δίσκος or Δύσκος) is a small beach settlement on the south coast of the Greek island of Crete. It is located 1.5 km west of the village of Lendas on the way to Gerokambos and Tsigounas . Both places are separated by a promontory in front of them, which is shaped like a lion.
Most of the place was created in the 1980s, when Lendas was a popular destination for backpackers, who mainly stayed in the bay behind the lion as tolerated wild campers. There are now four restaurants and four room rentals. The place name means "western".
