Dzierżno

Dzierżno (German Sersno ) is a district in the west of the city of Pyskowice ( Peiskretscham ) in the Silesian Voivodeship .

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 138 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 287 for Poland. In 1933 there were 849 inhabitants in Sersno.

In the 1930s, construction of reservoirs began near Sersno . The Gleiwitz Canal had already been laid out on the southern outskirts as a shipping route for the mines around Gleiwitz. On February 12, 1936, the place was renamed Stauwerder . In 1939 there were 999 inhabitants in Stauwerder.

In 1945 the previously German town in the Tost-Gleiwitz district came under Polish administration and was renamed Dzierżno and joined the Silesian Voivodeship.

In the early 1960s, the place was incorporated into Pyskowice.
