E2undel

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

e2undel is a tool for the ext2 file system that can be used to undo deletion of files under Linux . A temporary loss of data can be reversed by the program under certain conditions.

It was programmed by Oliver Diedrich and published under the GNU General Public License to provide the Linux community with a free and efficient way to recover data .

The console program displays the file size of deleted files and attempts to determine the file type. It includes a library that allows files to be recovered by filename , even if the filename is no longer visible after deletion. However, this feature is only available if e2undel was installed before the deliberate or accidental deletion of the file.

e2undel does not change the internal structures of the ext2 file system and only requires write access to restore files. It is therefore also suitable for users without administrator rights .
