history

In 1973, the city of Zurich founded the IV vocational school, the first public institution that is exclusively committed to general and professional further education. In 1988 the municipal vocational school IV became the cantonal vocational school for further education, with the departments EB Wolfbach and FS Lingua. In 2002 EB Wolfbach became EB Zürich . In 2005, the Cantonal Vocational School for Further Education (EB Zurich) and the Cantonal Matura School for Adults (KME) formed the Education Center for Adults (BiZE) in Zurich's Seefeld district . 2017 saw the entry into force of the new Federal Education Act (WeBiG) and the start of the EB Futura project to realign EB Zurich. Together with the logistics company Planzer, EB Zurich trained refugees in the pre-apprenticeship in logistics as part of a preliminary project. In 2018, EB Zurich developed the prototype for the federally financed integration pre-apprenticeship (INVOL) for refugees. Appropriate training should be possible in 18 cantons. EB Zurich trained 75 participants at the Zurich-Altstetten location. 2019 marked the beginning of the implementation of the new strategy and the focus on digital learning, basic education, integration and retraining as well as the training of professional training professionals and the start of the digital learning hub.
