ECHAM

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ECHAM (acronym EC MWF and Ham burg) is a global atmospheric circulation model , which at the Hamburg Max Planck Institute (MPI) for Meteorology was developed. The basis was a forecast model from the European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) . In addition to the MPI, other research institutions also use the model.

In the current version ECHAM5, the model in the standard version depicts the troposphere and the lower stratosphere up to a 10 hectopascal print area. In addition, with MAECHAM (" M iddle A tmosphere ECHAM ") a version for researching processes that include the middle atmosphere is available. The upper limit of the MAECHAM model is 0.01 hPa.
