eCall is an online service for sending text, voice, push, pager and fax messages. In 1999 eCall was the first web-based service from Switzerland for SMS and pager messages. It enables the sending, writing and receiving of messages from a web browser , by e-mail or via an interface ( SMS gateway , API) as Software as a Service (SaaS). In addition, existing application software can be expanded to include an SMS and / or fax function.

history

In 1992, Dolphin Systems AG, which was renamed F24 Schweiz AG on September 27, 2019, launched the first Swiss pager software (WinPage) for the Windows 3.1 operating system. On May 1, 1999, Switzerland's first web-based messaging service went online for SMS and pagers (since 2003 also sending and receiving faxes).

functionality

A message or information is transmitted to a central online system at F24 Schweiz AG (formerly Dolphin Systems AG) via an existing communication channel, such as e-mail , SMS, Internet or TCP / IP (inputs). From there, the system forwards the message to individuals or groups of people according to the specifications already set (e.g. scheduling, authorization, status / logbook). The sender is either a human (manual) or various applications and systems (automatic). The recipients receive the send job, depending on the specifications, as a fax, SMS, voice, push, e-mail or pager message (outputs).

To the subject

The eCall portal is not to be confused with the eSafety initiative of the European Commission of the same name. The project is an electronic emergency call system for vehicles. The product from F24 Schweiz AG (formerly Dolphin Systems AG) has been called eCall since 1999.
