The EDRA Super Pétrel is an ultra-light amphibious aircraft from the Brazilian manufacturer EDRA Pecas e Manutencao Ltda .

history

The Super Pétrel is a further development of the single-seat Hydroplum amphibious aircraft designed by Claude Tisserand , a wooden construction that first flew in 1983. In 1986 the first development of the Hydroplum II , powered by a Rotax 532 engine, the Société Morbihannaise d'Aéro Navigation (SMAN) acquired the production rights and built the machine under the name Pétrel . After SMAN ceased production and trading, the production rights to Billie Aero Marine and EDRA Pecas e Manutencao Ltda were sold on. EDRA began producing the Pétrel in Brazil in 1989 . The machine was revised and launched as Paturi from 1996, where it replaced the Pétrel . From 2002 it was replaced by the Super Pétrel , which was produced until 2014. In addition to Brazil, the Super Petrel was also sold to North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Africa.

construction

The Super Pétrel consists almost entirely of composite materials and metal components and is designed as a stripped one-and-a-half-decker with a conventional tail unit. The side support floats are located under the lower wings. The wings can be removed for transport on a trailer in around 30 minutes. A nose wheel landing gear can be retracted into the boat-shaped, single-stage hull. A Rotax 912 ULS four-cylinder four-stroke boxer engine with 73.5 kW is mounted behind the cockpit below the upper wing , which drives a three-blade pusher propeller.

  • Super Pétrel - main variant. Replaced the Paturi from 2002.
  • Super Pétrel LS - a 280 mm longer model, 25 km / h higher cruising speed, revised hull, new cabin and rear group, greater range
  • AAC SeaStar SP - North American version of Amphibian Airplanes of Canada
