The private banks grouped under EFG International are active worldwide with more than 3,000 employees (as of the end of 2019) in around 40 locations.

history

EFG (European Financial Group) International was founded in 1995 by Jean Pierre Cuoni, Lawrence D. Howell and five other people. The bank was created by acquiring both the right to operate from the Zurich branch of Banque de Deposits and the Swiss business of the Royal Bank of Scotland.

structure

The EFG International shares are listed on the Swiss stock exchange SIX Swiss Exchange listed . The largest shareholder in EFG International is the EFG Bank European Financial Group, a Swiss bank based in Geneva, with a stake of around 43.7% of the share capital. This in turn is an independent and separate sub-group of the Luxembourg-based European Financial Group EFG (Luxembourg) (“EFG Group”), which is controlled by the Greek family Latsis . BTG Pactual also owns 29% of EFG International.

EFG International's main Swiss private banking subsidiary is EFG-Bank. The bank, based in Zurich, has branches and agencies in Europe, Asia-Pacific, North and South America and the Middle East. EFG International has a number of other private banking subsidiaries including EFG Private Bank Limited in the UK and EFG Capital in the US.

Results

The family's largest shareholding is their EFG Bank European Financial Group in Luxembourg, a private banking group operating in many countries. It holds over 43.7% of EFG International, a global private banking group that offers private banking and asset management services and is listed on the Zurich Stock Exchange in Switzerland. The private banks grouped under EFGI operate in around 40 locations worldwide. As of December 31, 2019, they employed 3,151 people and managed client assets of CHF 153.8 billion.
