The EN 60601-2-26 titled "Medical electrical equipment - Part 2-26: Particular requirements for the safety of electroencephalograph" is part of the series of standards EN 60601 .

The DIN standard DIN EN 60601-2-26 is published by the German Institute for Standardization .

The standard is based on the international version IEC 60601-2-26. Within the framework of the VDE standards, the standard is classified as VDE 0750-2-26 , see DIN-VDE standards part 7 .

This supplementary standard regulates general requirements for the safety, tests and guidelines for electroencephalographs .

validity

The German edition 1.2004 has been accepted as a German standard from the date of issue .

  • Attention: In February 2008 a new draft was published.
  • The current version (1.2004) is to be used in accordance with the 2nd edition of DIN EN 60601-1.
  • Draft 2.2008 is to be used in accordance with the 3rd edition of DIN EN 60601-1.

scope of application

The standard specifies special requirements for the safety of electroencephalographs. It is to be used together with EN 60601-1 (2nd edition). This standard does not apply to:

  • Cerebral function monitors
  • Phono Photo Stimulators
  • Electroencephalographic telemetry devices
  • EEG data storage and playback devices
  • Devices that are intended in particular for patient monitoring during electro-shock therapy
  • portable electroencephalographic recorders
