This supplementary standard regulates general requirements for safety, tests and guidelines for operating tables.

The German edition 2.1999 has been accepted as a German standard from its date of issue .
- Attention: In April 2008 a new draft was published.
- The current version (2.1999) is to be used in accordance with the 2nd edition of DIN EN 60601-1.
- Draft 4.2008 is to be used in accordance with the 3rd edition of DIN EN 60601-1.
scope of application
The standard specifies special requirements for the safety of operating tables for medical use. It is to be used together with EN 60601-1 (2nd edition). This standard does not apply to:
- Dental chairs (see EN 80601-2-60 ),
- Examination tables and chairs
- Delivery beds , hospital beds (see EN 60601-2-38 or EN 60601-2-52 )
- Field operating tables
- Patient transfer facilities
- Patient positioning facilities for diagnosis or therapy
