ISO 17660

The EN ISO 17660 welding of reinforcing steels is a standard that deals with the welding of reinforcing steel in pregnant (part 1) and non-structural (part 2) welds employed. This European standard has also been published as a DIN standard since December 2006 and replaces DIN 4099, which was valid in Germany until then. It is also published as ÖNORM and SN .

This standard applies to the welding of rebars standardized in accordance with DIN 488-1 using manual arc welding (MMA), metal active gas welding (MAG), flash butt welding (RA) and gas pressure welding (GP) on construction sites and in companies (e.g. bending plants and Precast factories), as well as resistance spot welding (RP). It defines requirements for welding materials, welding processes and welding personnel as well as for the execution and monitoring of the welding process.

Specialist welding companies have the option of being certified according to this standard by approved institutes . Additional training in accordance with DVS 1175 is required for welding personnel in Germany .
