ERDAS
ERDAS Inc. (Earth Resource Data Analysis System) is a company based in Atlanta , USA , that produces a wide range of remote sensing software for the civil and military sectors.
The company was founded in 1978 and is now part of the Hexagon Group from Sweden. ERDAS develops software solutions for converting remote sensing data (aerial photographs, satellite data) into applied information for decision-makers (decision-making processes).
ERDAS offers solutions in the field of geo-processing, photogrammetry, data creation, remote sensing of the exchange and the joint evaluation of geo-data by several users. ERDAS works u. a. cooperates with the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and develops its products on the basis of these common standards.
The best known ERDAS program is the evaluation software ERDAS Imagine . The users of the various software packages are military and civil users. The add-on Stereo Analyst for the system MC&G (Mapping, Charting, and Geodesy) and TFRD (Tape Format Requirements Document) images is only available for the US military. This enables a stereoscopic evaluation of spatial data (images).
