The German ERNI Electronics GmbH & Co. KG , which belongs to the international group of companies ERNI International AG , was founded in 1956 and is based in Adelberg, Germany. The company develops and manufactures a wide range of connectors, backplanes and complete systems, soldered assemblies and cable assemblies. ERNI operates globally, with its own branches in Europe, North America and Asia.

history

The company is one of the world's largest manufacturers of electrical connectors in accordance with the DIN -41612 standard. At the time when ERNI-Elektroapparate-GmbH was founded by the Swiss parent company ERNI + Co. AG in 1956, its product range consisted only of relays. ERNI celebrated its 50th anniversary in June 2006.

After a constant phase of growth, in 1968 ERNI was the world's first manufacturer to produce connectors in accordance with the new DIN 41612 standard, which has developed into the most widely used standard for industrial PCB / circuit board connectors (PCB is an abbreviation for "printed circuit board ", in German: circuit board).

In 1980 a sales company was founded in the USA, which was later expanded to include a production facility. Continuous growth ultimately required the centralization of all domestic production facilities in the newly built factory in Adelberg in 1992.

Quality management has been documented with ISO 9001 certification since July 1993 .

In 1997 the production site in Adelberg was enlarged by 75% due to capacity bottlenecks, which corresponds to an expansion of 7,500 m². The ERmet and SMC connector series were developed in the mid-1990s .

In mid-2012, the new injection molding shop was inaugurated and the Zieglhau location was expanded.

In 2018, ERNI achieved IATF 16949 certification with the production sites in Adelberg and Lamphun .

The INTERact product range is currently one of the most innovative and top-selling products. At ERNI Electronics GmbH & Co. KG, all connector types that have a unique selling point that cannot be found in any comparable competitor connector have been combined under this product series.
